CQB June 2026
To preface, this was my fourth class with MVT following HEAT 1, 2, and Reconnaissance. I never had doubts about safety in classes at MVT, and this CQB class continued the tradition. I never have to worry about injury beyond following instructions and being careful moving on terrain. Of course, airsim/airsoft welts come with the territory for force on force classes.
For CQB, we were instructed in the fundamentals that are sometimes seen in media, but in class we get the benefit of understanding the “why” and the sequencing involved depending on different situations. Tips and tricks are further enrichment. Even now back home I am adjusting my notes and considering what to drill moving forward. It was a proper data dump across four hot days. I was behind the curve on a few occasions, but the instructors did not leave me behind. They care strongly about students understanding and executing the material in a safe manner.
Utilizing live opposing forces with airsoft/airsim on the last two days added yet another realistic element. They are a good bunch that often fills that role. We have left a few welts on each other by now. This time we got to sneak up the hill for a cookout with them one night.
If anyone wanted to learn the real thing, then this can’t be beat on the civilian side. These classes need all the attendance they can get to keep going on. It is worth much more than a third rifle. I continue to spread the word about MVT to anyone I care about who is interested in these skills. Telegram and YouTube video clips are great tools to help give a glimpse into what it looks like. The proper keywords help on the YouTube side where interested folks may come across it. Recent videos show them the operation has not folded, which I pray continues to be the case.
Thank you to the MVT team for another high value class. I look forward to the next one despite the long travel it takes for me to get there.
