Coming Soon: MVT 556 Patrol Rig
Coming Soon!
We are in the final pre-production stages!
The mag pouches feature kydex inserts for retention and easy grab / return of mags to the pouches.
The admin pouches are not sewn down, and feature the ‘tuck tab’ closure as well as the ‘tuck tunnel’ MOLLE attachment. There are large and small admin pouch versions, same size as on the VERSA rig. These pouches will fit anywhere on the MOLLE front of the 556 Patrol Rig, not just in the locations shown in the photos. They will be available for sale separately.

Not to nitpick, but why not have the flat pocket in the back bigger? I have a uw rig, and that bigger back pocket is great for flat items and a quick stuffer a spent mag or two. A bigger back pocket is more useful if one chooses to use that is and is negligible bulk, opinion only…
Look forward to silent but positive pouches. Good stuff.
Also, fyi, from experience, see no reason to not use 500 cordora opposed to 1000. It is lighter and holds up well enough and a bit cheaper. Kifaru is using it on quite a few items.
It’s a compass pouch. Thanks.
Sweet! That is a sharp looking quality rig. Nice and simple, and looks like it will last under hard use.
(Just thinking here, what would be a desirable add on for me, and this is strictly a personal gear preference because real-estate is so valuable, would be a heavier waist strap, like a stiffer 1.5 or 1.75 inch mini MOLLE strap, where I could hang some essential first line/last ditch gear, like a large sheath knife, very basic evasion/survive essentials kit, a canteen etc, and not take up the critical ready access ammo carriage and combat ready gear real-estate that you have designed on the front. This way, as I see it personally, I would have in this excellent 556 rig, a ready load out all in one package where no matter what happens to everything else as long as I have this rig and my rifle, and whats in my clothing pockets, I’m assured of the essentials. For instance, what if I’m taking a dump in the bush, or washing up in a creek, or I’ve dropped main and secondary pack, and for all the various reasons can’t recover them, I would have the 1st line kit all in a grab and go package.)
As designed, that is what your lite Battle Belt and Lite daysack / hydration pack combination are for.
I like the way you guys are thinking, that is, for your actual requirements, not what DevGru is running.
But this rig is designed to be a light weight, low profile chest rig, for armed civilians. It is designed to carry your rifle reloads, a team radio or optics, and a bleeder kit. Plus a few odds n ends that you might have previously carried in your breast pockets before armor/ACU’s. Yes it will work with or without BA.
We have explored other designs, actually quite similar to what you’re talking about here (like the LBV concept), and if there is sufficient demand we may re-visit them.
