Review: Combat Lifesaver Class – Stonks

I’ve been attending Max’s classes since 2018 (mostly as OPFOR) and this class was one of the most essential classes I have been to yet. If you have taken HEAT 1, I highly recommend you take this class as soon as you are able.

The first day is classroom focused on teaching what medical steps to take in the field, as well as going through gear needed and how to use said gear. Each section of the class was easy to follow, with practice exercises built in throughout.

Saturday and Sunday are mixed with field exercises, classrooms, and one on one student evaluations of medically treating combat injuries. The field exercises are vary in simply dealing with a mass casualty event, to dealing with casualties while operating in a limited tactical environment.

I was OPFOR for this class, so I am unable to give a full review of the class. What I can say is that even as OPFOR, I learned a substantial amount about basic combat first aid, as well as learning just how little I truly know about operating fully within a tactical environment. The lessons taught within this class are as necessary as what is taught in HEAT 1, if not more so (there is a lot more room for civil application).

One thing I can add from the OPFOR side of things, is how much this class is tailored to the specific needs of the students. Each scenario was set up to meet the proficiency of the students, allowing them to focus on the exercises instead of being bombarded with difficult situations beyond their capability.

I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from this class, and I hope to take it in the future.
