Training Video: Snipers

Lots of little gems, as usual.

Question: where do they take in shit in the snipers hide (or OP, if you were doing one and are not a sniper)? Answer: in a ziplock bag, and carry it out.

Fun.

(Re: The Briefing Officer: yes, I know where you are going with that. Don’t ask, don’t tell.)

Note: a hide such as this will protect you from thermal and aerial thermal observation.

    • Its actually, on the old Dennison smock and the more modern para smock, designed to stop the smock riding up while parachuting, not that anyone uses it like that. Those crotch straps hanging down at the back, rather than being re-buttoned up inside the back of the smock, along with the red dirt in North Africa, were what led the Germans to nickname the Paras “The Red Devils” in WWII – the crotch strap hanging down like tails at the back.
But those smocks do make a basis for a ghillie suit, and as the man described, the crotch strap will stop it riding up.

  1. I tried to take a shit in an MRE bag in our hide once and got shit all over everything and smelled like fresh high calorie turds for a week in the woods. best thing is to just cat hole that pile.

  2. USMC snipers crap in a “depends” adult diaper .They clean up with baby wipes and pack it all away in industrial ziplocks. Cavers crap in those throw away plastic tubs-tape them shut-and pack them out. The whole Idea is “leave no sign of your passing this way”.—Ray
