New Class Added: Combat Lifesaver: December 5-7

This is a new three day class based around how we teach Combat Lifesaver on the Texas Alumni Live Fire Class, run out of the Romney WV location. The class will consist of:

Friday: Formal instruction on the combat lifesaver protocol. This will be taught per TC3 guidelines (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) as taught in the U.S. Military.

Saturday & Sunday: Practical application in a simulated combat environment utilizing AirSim rifles. You will be conducting tactical missions on which casualties will be taken. You will deal with the casualty as per TC3 protocol and evacuate as per the scenario. This will be a stressful and immersive environment. Multiple scenarios will be conducted.

There is no prerequisite to attend this class.

Students will need to bring their own IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) and be prepared to use items.

Bring your usual tactical gear set up for AirSim missions.

IFAK Contents:

Tourniquets x 2: SOFTT-W (recommended) or CAT. (Not carried in the IFAK, but readily available with either hand).
The remainder of the IFAK should be packed into a pouch that is readily available on your gear:
NPA – Nasopharyngeal Airway.
Decompression needle x 2.
Chest Seal x 2.
Kerlix gauze (or hemostatic gauze but don’t waste it at class).
Bandage: compression and / or ACE wrap.
Survival blanket.
Trauma shears.
Tape. 100 MPH tape. Small roll.

At class, items such as Kerlix can be stuffed back into the packet and reused multiple times. A few of them would be useful. Items such as the decompression needle will be used on a simulated tension pneumothorax.
