Convoy Immediate Action

This is a weekend (two day) vehicle mounted live fire class focusing on vehicle-borne operations in hostile environments. This class will focus on convoy movement, communication between vehicles and reaction to enemy contact. Students must bring vehicles to class. Vehicle safety is one of our priorities and there will be no shooting from inside or around personal vehicles.

Prerequisites: HEAT 1 Combat Tactics.

Objectives of the class include:

• Convoy movement in hostile environments.
• Considerations for road movement in hostile environments.
• Principles and operation of close protection convoys.
• Responsibilities of vehicle crews: driver, commander, shooters, protected personnel.
• Actions on enemy contact.
• Contact left, right and front, road blocked.
• Vehicle immobilized, all vehicles immobilized.
• Armored vs. unarmored vehicles.
• Cross-decking.
• Breaking contact drills: foot and vehicle mounted.
• Actions with protected personnel (unarmed protectees / family members).
• Communication.
• Leadership.

Gear: Personal equipment as per HEAT 1 Combat Tactics.

Vehicles: We will need either three or four vehicles to run the class. Vehicles should be a four-wheel drive SUV or crew cab pickup truck. The intent will be to have 3 or 4 personnel per vehicle, for a total of 3 or 4 vehicle crews.

Class Size Limit: 16.

Cost: $600
