To all the Vets here, and I know they ARE here…
I know some of you feel awkward maybe when you get thanked for your service because to you it was what you chose to do. I like to hold the Americans who chose to serve with great esteem and respect and think it is important to recognize that they chose to serve us all. The collective gratitude of an entire nation is owed to you.

Thanks to all of you who have, or are currently serving our country!
There should be more than one day a year when you are remembered!

I’m glad to see this thread. I am currently in MO and have been driving. I checked in here in the hope that a thread had been started. In the UK the 11 November is Remembrance Day. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month: armistice for WW1.
This day is about so much more than the politics of why people were at war. It is about those who went, and did not come back.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

I want to wish ALL Veterans Happy Veterans Day doesn’t matter what branch or what country you served you’re still a vet no matter what. For answering the call to protect others from the evil the lurks in the world.

We always do something for Veterans Day at church, this video was selected. Don’t know who made it, but it was well done.

My earliest memories of Veterans Day were accompanying my grandfather to the parade and ceremonies as a very small child.
Seeing many WWI veterans, many in uniform.
I remember my grandfather telling me stories of attending the first Armistice Day events with his grandfather.
There were Civil War veterans in attendance, both in blue and gray.
Ensure your children and grandchildren know the meaning and history.

One of my earliest memories is of watching my Dad in uniform, marching by in formation, on a Veterans Day. As he came up even with me, have gave me a wink. That snapshot is engraved in the halls of my mind. I was never so proud of him, or of being his son. I look back on that as one of the moments I could not wait to be in uniform and replace him in the ranks.
To all veterans, to those that have gone before us, save me a seat at the campfire, and I will endeavor to earn a place in your company.
