Fast forward to 1998 or 1999, and middle school aged JohnnyMac and comrades being threatened with police charges for shooting each other with pea shooters.

Then fast forward to recent years, with grade schoolers being suspended for bringing in a GI Joe with a miniscule gun, or making a gun shape with their hand.

The image above really puts things into perspective.

Not really part of this, but it made me smile.

I remember back in the day, all of the salty instructors I had in basic .mil training were Vietnam vets as well as my first CO. Now, Desert Storm vets have been in longer than my first CO was at the time.

I remember back in the day…

Yep, all of my early mentors were Vietnam guys.

What’s really bizarre is when you wake up one day and your the “old guy” whose been there and done that!

Got ten years in and your peaking.

Up to 20 years in and your getting old.

Over 20 years and your in 40’s and your down right ancient with guys younger than some of your kids!

Best thing about retirement is when people say oh your too young to be retired.

Whats old in the military is young in the World. ;-)
