Since First Sergeant and Joe have brought up batteries in another thread, thought we could devote this one to batteries without stealing their thread.
One of the most common battery types (and cheap) are alkaline, like found at Walmart, Amazon, etc and are in most of OTS (off the shelf) consumer electronic products. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alkaline_battery
Moving up the ladder of quality and price are lithium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_battery
Hopefully, you have never had the experience of having to throw away a product due to “battery leakage.” What IS battery leakage? https://www.consumerreports.org/batteries/whybatteriesleak/
So what batteries should I use in my EXPENSIVE stuff? Do your own homework but as Joe mentioned, Lithium leak far less. https://www.large.net/news/89u43p1.html

I can attest to expensive equipment ruined by alkaline battery leakage. It was at that moment I decided that expensive equipment would only use lithium batteries. I will post voltage, amperage comparison charts soon.
One thing to consider as well would be lithium rechargable batteries. Lithium rechargables have a longer service life than alkaline rechargables (many more cycles).
Available thru surefire w/ charger for a decent price.
Lithium disposable are 1.7V
NiMH are 1.2 V
Rechargeable Lithium’s vary in voltage in the ~~4.x volts
