AAR: RMP/CRCD 26/27 April – Danni

My name is Danni and I am writing this to try to give a women’s perspective and hopefully try to convince other women that they can do this, they will be welcomed and they NEED to take this course. I will be the first to admit that I took this class initially to appease my husband and get some training just in case I needed to go on a supply run in the future. My thought process prior to the class was that I would take the typical female role and concentrate on more “domestic” duties. Needless to say Max’s class has completely changed my perspective. The scenarios really made me think about how everyone regardless of gender needs to know this. I’ve thought about what I would do if our family was “bugging out” and my husband was the only person that had any kind of training. I contemplated how there may be times he is out and about and I need to know how to defend myself and our children. This course isn’t about going out and looking for a fight. It is about knowing what to do if you do come in contact with bad people and those bad people won’t leave you be just because you are a woman. As a matter of fact I think we would be more vulnerable.

We took the RMP on Friday and I am really glad we did. Aaron did a phenomenal job of helping me get the basic rifle manipulation better prior to the start of CRCD. I admit I still had my head in my rifle way more than I should have but without RMP the other knowledge I received definitely would have been diminished. I highly recommend taking this course so you can get more of the CRCD drills down. Also practice tactical/emergency reloads and clearing malfunctions.

PT was definitely a take away from class. Don’t think that just because you can run 3 or 4 miles on a flat surface you are in shape and ready to take on the world. I’d highly recommend adding inclines and strength training. I found the course doable but was definitely feeling it by the end. Nothing bad just muscles I had forgotten I had.
Max is a great instructor. The class layout has a very good mixture of lecture and drill. He makes sure that everyone is staying hydrated and ensures that everyone is good to continue. I know the thought of live ammunition can be scary but safety is definitely a high priority.

I never thought that I would enjoy a course like this but found that it was really enjoyable. The increase in confidence was amazing! So much so that we are about to make our deposit for the combined CRCD/Patrol course and it’s not about appeasing him this time. I truly want to do it!
I would highly recommend this class to anyone!
