I am not a unquestioning President Trump supporter.
I have called for calm and a “wait and see” approach when a variety of panic attacks have set in regarding potentially “bad” things he might do.
Things like starting WWIII by invading Syria.
Tariffs will start a trade war collapsing economy, etc…
He did direct the ban on Bump Stocks; a ignorant act, but one I am willing to let Court actions deal with since my finger can still bumpfire just fine. Also like most new gun laws/regulations it’s just been ignored. I know of no incidents of private owners destroying them or turning them in.
Overall President Trump has done a better job than Presidents in my lifetime.
If he had actual Republican support he could have accomplished real change, but that’s not reality.
Brietbart had an article today 7 Reasons Suppressor Ban May Cause Pro-Gun Voters to Abandon Trump. Nothing I haven’t already discussed and very true IMHO.
The comments to this article and my recent experience on Parler are the reason for this Thread.
So I can overlook the Bumpstock fiasco, I personally can’t overlook a suppressor ban.
I don’t believe it will happen, but it’s important that President Trump, his advisors, and “MAGA” people understand there are many that will not support him if he goes that route and with voter fraud still an issue, he can’t afford to lose us.
Many of the “MAGA” crowd are as deluded as our extreme Socialist lunatics.
I suspect they are either so desperate to believe things can be permanently fixed or completely blinded by groupthink!
I have repeatedly stated that President Trumps election has bought time, not change.
If we look at President Trumps accomplishments (do a search), it is easy to see that virtually all of them could be reversed within a few months of any new Administration. There is nothing lasting to any of them.
So best case we have until 2024, worse case 2020 and with no meaningful attempt to stop voter fraud a 2020 loss is very possible. I see no Trump replacement waiting in the wings of power.
Vice President Pence?
I don’t think he is a badguy, but he doesn’t have what it takes IMHO.
I must admit that the degree of groupthink among the “MAGA” people is greater than anticipated.
Desperate for hope I guess, but very shortsighted.

i think bump stocks are stupid.
But a suppressor ban would be a deal breaker for me.

Do you see 9 people in robes accomplishing much?
In a Socialist power grab do you see these 9 robed geeks preventing it?
Sure in the extreme short-term it might not hurt, but they have no real power.
The problem is without respect for the law, the law no longer matters.
Do you think the Socialists respect the law?

Wow, the derp in the comments on the Breitbart article is breathtaking. The real issue is “us”. By us I mean gun owners. It is readily apparent that many gun owners are not 2nd Amendment supporters. You know, the “shall not infringe” type. Read the comments.
The “why do you need one?” and “it’s a range toy” and “it’s not a hill to die on” crowd is pretty pervasive. THIS is your NRA, folks. Another massacre or two, some new polling showing outrage for suppressors and a sudden change of heart by once reliable Republicans and that’s all she wrote.
Let’s face it, too many 2nd Amend “supporters” are weak-kneed, fair-weather Constitutionalists.
A suppressor ban would be quite the pandora’s box.

What if the power grab IS adding a few more (socialist) geeks, not to prevent change, but foster it?
Certainly some Socialist types have already talked about increasing the number of Supreme Court judges as a solution to counter Trumps appointments. Though I think it would be just as possible to ignore Supreme Court.
THIS is your NRA, folks.
I think it may go beyond the simple not real 2nd Amendment supporters.
If this “don’t like it” comment has originated by an Obama type then many of these same people maybe posting “from my cold dead hands” comments!
What I am leaning towards is some of these “MAGA” folks maybe becoming a President Trump “can do no wrong” supporters. If true, that maybe even scarier than just a fair weather 2nd Amendment supporters.
Now don’t get too wrapped up on a suppressor ban. I don’t see it happening at this time.
However too many blindly following any leader maybe a greater concern!

The issue with the bump stock ban wasn’t that bump stocks were banned, it was the power the ATF was granted by the administration to ban a firearm accessory. Perhaps a Democrat-appointed ATF head will claim that magazines over ten rounds increase the rate of fire by a semi-auto enough to regulate it as a machine gun? You can get into some real funky legalese and the government never wastes the opportunity to exercise its power.
SCOTUS hasn’t done shit about 2A since DC v. Heller, as Joe mentioned Buttigeig and others are already suggesting court packing to counter the conservatives in SCOTUS. SCOTUS already ignored challenges to the bump stock ban, if suppressors get banned I really don’t see them jumping to overthrow a ban on another accessory that you already needed federal permission to own.
Joe’s on-point about Trump giving us time, not change.
Perhaps one good thing about this suppressor kerfuffle is that it’s revealing those who are pro-liberty and the drones who simply do whatever the MAGA train says is right.

A good point, however, I will say that if it’s taken anyone in the gun (let alone “liberty”) community until NOW to figure this out, they’ve missed quite a lot.
I remember right after Parkland in ’13 when things were looking real grim on the 2A front, on a very well known, generally well respected firearm forum I am on, that usually engages in less derp than most of the internet, people even there were promoting ridiculous shit, like adding all “assault weapons” to the NFA list, as long as it allowed everyone to keep them. It was amazing how fast a large group of people there either accepted the attempted legislation as a done deal, or immediately started searching for sell-out ways to cling to what they had. Half the country buying up everything in sight, and the other half trying to figure out how to sell everyone out in the guise of “protecting” the 2A.
It was sad and pathetic.
The recent bumpstock ban just brought all those same hand-wringing “moderates” “not the hill to die on” folks to the fore yet again, let alone the NRA being the bumbling, ignorant, foot-eating fudds that they are. I’m sure the folks that have been in the pro-gun-sellout days of the 80s and 90s have seen it all, but… 2013 was the sort of lightbulb moment for me. And now we have the new crop of dipshits that think everything Trump does is 4D chess.
Here I thought we are all valiant pro-gun, pro-liberty folks ready to put up or shut up if anyone dared touch any of our sacred rights, and yet there everyone was walking off the field before the battle started.
I have never commiserated more with William Wallace in my life… haha

The real issue has ALWAYS been us.
To paraphrase a comment elsewhere, every time some soccer mom walking their dog in the ‘hood has some wannabe gangster flash a gun I have to explain why I’m not the threat.
I don’t think Trump will actually do anything on suppressors, but if he does… kiss 2020 goodbye. It’s already going to be a close enough thing as it is, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that would bail if he does any more 2A shenanigans.

I have to admit that once upon a time I used to be one of those guys that was willing to compromise with the liberals on guns but the more time goes on the more obvious the choices we’re being left with are uncomfortably black and white. My new libertarian running joke is that I wasn’t a Republican who likes weed, I was a Democrat who likes guns. 2013 was the tipping point for me too, that’s when the anti-gunners got their precious AWB pushed through here in Maryland with Bloomberg cash, also agree that if you’ve been following gun rights for a while and you haven’t figured out that civilian disarmament is the goal, you’re really lost.
We’re considered ignorant if we don’t understand every new SJW issue but the progressives refuse to even learn enough about firearms to figure out why we feel under threat. (To be clear, I 110% support the rights of ethnic minorities, LGBT, whatever to protect themselves with guns, of course, diversity is a net positive for liberty.)
Part of me wonders if Trump will be more willing to pass some gun control after he wins re-election when the loss of gun voters won’t matter. Probably not, but he already passed more gun control in two years than Obama did in eight.
