Donald Trump to Address Nation as Reports Say ISIS Founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi Captured or Killed

        Excerpt:

The White House announced late Saturday that President Donald Trump will address the nation on Sunday after reports suggest ISIS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was captured or killed by the United States.

The president previewed the news on his Twitter account.

“Something very big has just happened!” he wrote cryptically on his Twitter account.

The United States military conducted a special operations raid on Saturday against Bagdahdi, according to Newsweek, while a senior official said that Baghdadi had been killed.

Other reporters on Twitter confirmed the rumors, as the Pentagon awaits further verification of the successful raid.

Other reports noted that a helicopter raid took place in Syria on a convoy of terrorist leaders.

Al Baghdadi had a $25 million bounty on his head from the State Department and has escaped capture since ISIS was established to seize territory and resources in the Middle East.

Al Baghdadi went through a long period of silence but a video in April provided visual proof that he was still alive, despite rumors that he was killed or badly wounded in an American airstrike.

In September, al-Baghdadi released a video urging his followers to carry out further attacks against the West and free soldiers from prison in Syria.

Despite certain complications I am hoping for capture! It would be a excellent Intelligence opportunity and afterward having him hang at the end of a rope is preferable.

Do the SOF raiders get the 25 million reward?

This is great news. Not to put a turd in the punch bowl, and I only mention it here, but do you guys think Trump gave out way too much info on the T,T,P’s used on the mission? Details like flying nap of the earth, blowing through walls instead of doors, the use of meat missiles, finding lots of sensitive info, etc. Or is this stuff our enemies are intimately familiar with, so is inconsequential. I just remember thinking Obama and Biden gave out way too much info on Bin Laden, and in all fairness, is Trump getting close to the same line?

Again, not trying to nit-pick the fly shit; just something that bothered me.

3 km from the Turkish border, inside Idlib which is currently under Turkish protection…Go figure. B-)

                  Go figure.

                  Imagine that!

Certainly not that surprising, would love to see the Intel recovered. Not the end of the story, but whether it comes to light is very questionable.

I watched live Diz and listened very carefully for any of that. I don’t think there was anything aside from maybe the quality of the real time visuals. I think that could be assumed based on commercial capabilities.

I didn’t watch the full speech (I was at a Halloween party) but what you describe is already public knowledge, a lot of the same tactics were used in the OBL raid.

Some of it is just rules of the trade – any kind of paperwork and electronics are gonna be grabbed up for intelligence value, never go through the front door if you don’t have to is kind of a basic rule in modern urban combat. Front doors are a prime target for IEDs, better to go through a window, best if you can access the building from an upper floor, but still check for trip wires, sensor mines, etc. We carried explosive charges we used to blast any potential IEDs before we passed any shady corners or doorways, clearing a single four-story apartment building could easily take 20 minutes to a half hour.

Worth noting that the Turks were kept out of the loop. Also, the ISIS spokesperson was killed afterwards in a strike near Jarablus, in Turkish-backed FSA territory. Expect a lot of stuff to happen to ISIS guys while the intelligence is still hot.

OK ’nuff said. I just remember thinking Obama and old Uncle Joe were giving away way too much info. Some had said there might have been actionable intel from Obama raid if the fact that a bunch had been collected hadn’t been splashed around the news.

OPSECwise I doubt anything cosmic is going to be gained by our enemies from a little football spiking. Do not underestimate the value of our enemies knowing there is an entire community of hard men and diligent analysts hunting them.

Well done JSOC (or whoever actually took care of that numbskull).

Here’s the intel gathering SDF did, according to one of their senior officials:

Follow on raids in Jarablus (which Turks and FSA took in 2016) and apparently also Afrin, which was perfectly quiet under SDF control until the Turks invaded in 2018.

Well I guess the point is they smoke checked this asshole. Well done.

On another note did you see the reaction from the left? One prominent (former) newspaper reported “Islamic scholar and cleric Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, dead at 62”. Hmmm. I was thinking more along the lines of “psychotic killer and muslim leader al-Baghdadi fucking blown all over cave walls by US SF”. But whatever.

Diz, you referring to the “austere religious scholar” obit that WaPo put out?

Honestly there’s no clear cut left-right divide on Syria policy, especially regarding the situation in the north. Up until recently it’s mostly been a weird alliance of anarchist leftists and neocons. We’ve only just started getting some progressives onboard and we still have holdouts on both sides of the aisle like Massie, Paul, and Ilhan Omar, the former two because they’re isolationists and the latter because her and her constituents are Somali and Turkey is investing heavily in Somalia. The Rojava Revolution kicked off in 2011 and the DSA is finally taking a stand against Turkey, many state socialist groups were split between pro- and anti-Assad camps. There were even a few nutjob leftist parties that considered ISIS anti-imperialist, more than one anarchist I met was uncomfortable with the exceptions that some leftists give to Islamists in the name of solidarity.

If I have to be honest I’m not 100% convinced of the US’s account of the raid, especially the “whimpering” bits that Trump was groveling over. The US has a history of propagandizing these kinds of ops.

Yeah but I love to watch Trump in action. He might have employed a bit of hyperbole, but that’s what we love about the guy. Saying the last thing this guy heard was rotor blades and army boots coming his way makes a great story. Kinda like the last thing going through his mind was a couple pounds of Semtex.

                                  Fuck yeah.

                                  I’m cool with it.

People lose focus on the whimpering coward stuff. That wasn’t for us that was for them. Few of these so called leaders are much more than exceptionally accomplished bullies. Expecting more from their followers than themselves.

I particularly laugh at the “We’ll make them mad!” comments!

                                    What idiots!

You don’t want to know what I think would have been a just death for that bastard after his interrogation! B-)
