Gun rights supporters say Trump could lose their vote

Less than a week before calling for more gun control laws, President Trump invited boos at a massive Ohio campaign rally, warning 17,000 supporters that if Democrats reclaim power, “there is no Second Amendment.”
“I think he’s about to make his ‘read my lips’ mistake. He thinks he can do anything on the Second Amendment and gun owners will love him.”
So what do you think? 😎

Of course Trump is under a lot of political pressure by suburban Republicans to “do something” but if he passes any gun control he’s a one-term president. He didn’t win a majority vote last election and his current strategy of focusing on electrifying his base rather than appealing to centrists makes him extremely vulnerable to defections from the large, single-issue pro-2A camp. At the same time, fudds and suburban soccer moms might defect if he passes nothing at all.
Trump already abandoned any notion of fiscal conservativism, Democrats are offering options beyond Trump regarding ending the Drug War, criminal justice reform, and winding down foreign wars, 2A is one of the few things that the Republicans have to sway more libertarian folks like me.
Before I thought this election was Trump’s to lose but now I’m not 100% sure, our guns might get confiscated sooner rather than later. I don’t know where things are going now.

This isn’t an issue for me since I truly believe we passed the point of no return in 2008. There is nothing that can be done to fix the debt issue. So why not pretend it isn’t a problem until it finally collapses.
We might even get “lucky” and the world collapses due to another cause before the debt collapse. (Dripping in sarcasm) 😉
Back to the gun issue I gave him a pass on the whole bumpstock fiasco, since people have just ignored it.
That’s his last freepass from me.
However, I might be able to look the other way on universal background checks if in exchange he got complete comprehensive borderwall funding package with increased personnel and with no amnesty.
So why would I look the other way on universal background checks?
Because the vast majority of people I know will just ignore it! Noncompliance will be extreme IMHO.
Of course I don’t see the Socialists giving Trump a complete border package for just universal background checks so it’s probably a mute point.
Any other gun laws and Trump loses my vote!
Regarding the threat of a Socialist win means losing the Second Amendment?
I am pretty sure there will be even worse consequences than that should the Socialists gain power!
I never expected to get out of this without a fight, so a Socialist win in 2020 or 2024?
It just doesn’t make much difference to me.
On a brighter note, people have expected Trump to do something bad so many times and he didn’t.
So maybe this is just nothing to even be concerned about.😅

We already live with universal background checks in Maryland and it’s annoying but not crushing. Of course every legislative session is a potential 2Apocalypse in Maryland so that could change, one proposal this year would have made it illegal to even loan a firearm to a friend at the range without a background check.
Ted Cruz is apparently working on a version of a red flag law that would have stiff penalties against frivolous claims and strong protections for confiscated firearms. I’ve read one line of thinking that the GOP could offer “watered-down” proposals and call the Dems bluff if they refuse to go along because it isn’t strict enough. The background checks for a wall thing might be something along those lines.
Trump is so damn volatile that you can never tell when he’s bullshitting and when he’s serious. I still fully anticipate that the authority to ban bump stocks will easily be used to ban flash hiders, 10+ round magazines, pistol grips, etc. if the next president picks an ATF head willing to interpret their powers so far.
I wouldn’t count on “They’re socialists!” to be a winning slogan, many young people would love to vote a socialist into power. The only counter to that so far has been the Dems’ own extreme proposals that make them sound nuts, e.g. Medicare for illegals, half a trillion bucks towards reparations, etc.

They didn’t federally ban bumpstocks, they administratively changed the definition of what a machinegun is and since no bumpstock existed prior to 1986 Firearms Protection Act, hence there is no provision to register them since no machine gun manufactured after 1986 can be sold to citizens.
…used to ban flash hiders…
I guess in theory they could attempt to call flash hiders silencers, but there is no other administrative laws to twist your other examples.
Not that it really matters as most will not comply!
Of the slightly more than half a million known bumpstocks made only around 22,000 have been accounted for and 20,000 of those were unsold manufacturer overstock.
So there are several hundred thousand “illegal machine guns” (bumpstocks) out there. The penalties for being successfully prosecuted are the same, whether you have a bumpstock or a non-NFA compliant fullauto M-16!
Of course that doesn’t mean those who don’t comply are willing to fight, most won’t. Just remember, anything over a few hundred motivated individuals will be unstoppable by standard LEA’s and using Military will increase the number willing to fight against them.
I wouldn’t count on “They’re socialists!” to be a winning slogan, many young people would love to vote a socialist into power.
For all intents and purposes there are only Socialists in control of the DNC. So when the Republicans eventually lose power (at least half of them are little socialists) it means apparent Socialist victory. I suspect they will move quickly to prevent their ability to lose elections by any means necessary.
As hate filled and angry as they are now, they will be vindictive in the extreme once back in power IMHO.
So again who cares if they take power in 2020 or 2024?

I called my state reps office about 2 years ago and talked to the usual nice lady on the phone, I was polite with my request, as I can be a very polite person and I apologized to her.
Why would you do that robroy?” Because we do a crap job of presenting ourselves culturally versus the utter crap propaganda such nice suburban white ladies must endure along with the attendant social pressure. She was taken aback, thinking she would get the usual irate Boomercon alternatively ranting about conspiracy and lecturing on the finer points of Consteetushonal minutae.
“Conservatives” the friggin morons they are don’t have enough sense to state the obvious to these nice suburban ladies. And here it is, “The anti-gun, gun control propaganda is total shit.”
If you aren’t applying Discredit & Disqualify to our enemies you are the problem.
