Student Review: CTT & Why I chose MVT for Training: DevilDoc

I’m moving this out of the Alumni forum.

Recently, MVT mobilized onto There is a lot of trolling at that site, and there are a lot of users with the mindset that civvies should not / cannot be training in SUT. Trolling is inevitable, but that is not the point.

The point is to get the message out. If trolled, do not engage but use whatever the troll says to come back with more of the message, in a professional manner. Use the opportunity to expand the message. There is a large readership at ARFCOM and a lot of silent majority readers.

These trolls are opinionated ignorant assholes who will act unprofessionally to throw as much poo as necessary in the hope that some sticks, in order to try and shut down the message about tactical training for the prepared citizen. They will tell you that the training is unsafe, that the cadre have no idea what we are doing, that we can’t possibly train this stuff, that we are training the wrong stuff, and that we are snake oil salesmen trying to make a buck. Those of you that know, know how far from the truth that is.

These trolls are often LEO / professional trainer types. The same ones who are not as skilled as they think they are, and who refuse to train civilians beyond the square range. They behave very unprofessionally. It is important that we are not deterred, and that we state the message professionally.

I ask that those of you who can spare the time, go onto the threads and expand the right message, support the MVT effort. This is, after all, a small opportunity to “Stand Up’ as I am always encouraging. First we take ARFCOM, then Berlin!

These are the current threads:

Tactical Training is for LEO / .MIL only

Max Velocity Tactical

Tactical Clearance: An Explanation

OK guys time to pay Max back. If you’ve learned anything over here at all, he needs your support over there at arfcom. The trolls are unbelievable. I can’t believe the ignorance, arrogance, and close-mindedness in some quarters.

    • Doug says:

      Hear Hear!
We all got to stick together.
Max has done incredible things to have our back. It is only right we have his, and stand up for the principles and values Max exemplifies.

    • Andrew E. says:

Looks like the responses, except for a relative few, are neutral-inquisitive or better.

It looks to me like a good chunk of the doubting didn’t seem to be a “civilians don’t need this” as much as it was a “train and prepare for far more likely events/needs first.”
Most of it didn’t strike me as hate or trolling, just disagreement with priorities.

Yes, even the LE guy in the second listed thread. There was a lot of assuming that he was taking an attitude of “LE or MIL only,” but I didn’t get any of that from his posts.

Having gotten that pro-forma qualifier out of the way, it looks like the trolls are pretty much confined to a relative handful, with a lot more folks expressing a positive interest or even support.

I did see an awful lot of defensive accusations being flung around on all sides, though, and lots of strawmen being burned.

  3. tom says:

That type of training good to use. The ones that complain no longer “serve and protect”

  4. Safety man says:

Put your video on safety on there. Then do video part 2. Get to work already dude…

  5. RobRoySimmons says:

Have you asked any of the principals of that site to train? Of course they could turn out to be the biggest a-hats of all time, but maybe the more open minded could be sought out

  6. Justin says:

Have tried logging on to respond but arfcom won’t accept my email address. Someone needs to tell that idiot coloccw about full classes in Texas for 5 days full of civilians for more than a grand.

  7. Mark Dietzler says:

That is just barfcom being barfcom. Nobody I know in the training business has anything to do with that site any longer. The trolls, as you can see, are legion, and cannot be reasoned with.

  8. Cajun_Rebel says:

while i have never taken one of your classes, I’ve been following you for a couple of years now. I just wanted to say thanks for putting information out there despite the haters. As far as the d bag on arfcom, I find the best way to deal with guys like that is to thank them for their opinion and leave it at that. All he’s going to do is talk in circles and try to derail every thread of yours he can. That is very typical of guys that associate themselves with DARC (as he did in one of the threads). i have no clue why but everytime i encounter them on the net its the same thing different person.
